African Designers: Farai Simoyi New York Fashion Week Fall 2011 Show

“Farai Simoyi is slated to debut her new collection “Madame’s Rouge” during New York Fashion Week on February 13, 2011 at 11am. Her fashion show will be held in the Helen Mills Theater, located in North Chelsea at 137-139 West 26th Street.

The British Zimbabwean designer successfully launched her first collection “Primordia” for Spring/Summer 2011 New York Fashion Week, where she was named “breakout designer” by Time Out NY and industry insiders have deemed her work versatile, edgy, modern, and fresh. Farai will show more of her edgy and modern designs during New York Fashion week in early February. “Madame’s Rouge,” Farai’s AW 2011/2012 collection, is a continuation of the designer’s depiction of a strong, confident, and cosmopolitan woman. Inspired by the controversial role of Fanny the seductress, in the French based play, “Sapho” in 1902, Farai Simoyi reveals the sultriness of her muse and brings her to modern life.

Farai Simoyi is currently based in New York City. Her label will hit stores in early April showcasing the SS2011 collection. For more information on Farai Simoyi and her label, visit her website at www.faraisimoyi.com.
