Africa Fashion Week 2011: Intisaar Mukadam (Pictures)

“Born in Zimbabwe, Intisaar studied at the De Montfort University in the UK, where she obtained her BA (Hons) degree in Fashion Design. She studied abroad for four years and experienced many fashion houses in Paris and New York. Intisaar then returned to Zimbabwe to launch her clothing range, which offers women’s fashion and knitwear.

Intisaar has designed for various fashion shows, such as, ‘Ford Supermodel of the World Search- Zimbabwe’. She has also dressed model Samantha Tshuma and Miss Zimbabwe 2011, Malaika Mushandu. She is influenced by African tribes and uses indigenous fabrics like Zimbabwean Batique and African Java. Intisaar distinguishes her designs by creating textures that come away from the body. Besides striving to create pieces that are intensely unique, the most important element in her designs is comfort.”
