Versace Cuts a Fourth of Its Work Force
PARIS — Versace Group, the fashion house based in Milan, said Wednesday that it would cut 26 percent of its worldwide work force and consolidate its operations as it targeted a return to profitability in 2011.

“We’re reviewing in a comprehensive way the whole structure of the company,” Giangiacomo Ferraris, the chief executive, said by telephone. “Operating costs have been rising since 2006, and because of the economic situation we need to have a more flexible operation.” (New York Times)

Journalist criticised for posing as black man in film
“GERMAN ANTI-RACISM groups have attacked a legendary investigative journalist for going undercover in blackface to expose racism in daily life.

Günter Wallraff spent over a year travelling through Germany disguised as fictional Somalian man Kwami Ogonno for the film Schwarz auf Weiss ( Black on White ).

Wearing an Afro wig, dark contact lenses and face paint, he travelled to 120 towns and cities across Germany fitted with a hidden camera. “I have many black friends here who, time and again, are harassed solely because of their skin colour but who, to avoid further trouble, don’t talk about it,” said Wallraff. “I wanted to experience this first hand, so I disappeared into this role.” (Irish Times)

Naomi Campbell sued by cosmetics company Moodform Mission for breach of contract
Hot-tempered stunner Naomi Campbell is being hauled back into court – and for once, it’s not over one of her phone-flinging meltdowns.

Moodform Mission is suing Campbell, charging that the feisty supermodel cut the cosmetics company out of profits for products titled “Cat Deluxe with Kisses” and “Seductive Elixir.”

“The payments stopped coming,” said Daniel Bright, a lawyer for the Miami-based company. “I guess she just decided she didn’t want to pay any more.” (NYDailyNews)

Durban designer to dress world’s beauties
Hansrot is one of eight South African designers chosen to create pieces that will be worn by the Miss World contestants at two pre-events in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on November 12 and at a fashion showcase in Johannesburg on November 28.

The final will take place in the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg on December 12.

Kluk CGDT, RJKay, JJ Schoeman, Spero Villioti, Thula Sindi, Marc and Michael, Diamond Face Couture and Hansrot’s signature store, 75 , were each tasked with creating 16 designs for the shows. (TimesLive.za)
