Fashion Weeks

Cesar Galindo, Spring/Summer 2010 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Cesar 11It has been since the 1980s when Cesar Galindo moved from his native Houston, Texas to New York. Nevertheless, Houston’s high society and fashion-forward continue to support him, in full force and indeed many were in attendance at the designer’s Spring/Summer 2010 showing which was held at the swanky M2 Ultra Lounge located on 530 W. 28th Street.

The ambience was at once sexy, smooth, luxurious and energetic. From the first model that walked the runway to the last, Cesar quickly distinguished himself from the industry drama about the lack of Black models on the runway. There were Asian, White, Spanish and a healthy dose of Black models including Ghana’s Supermodel Belinda Baidoo. The different skin tones of these models complimented his colorful designs perfectly.

Every piece Galindo showed was impeccably designed and had a clear point of view of the woman he was designing for. She was effortlessly feminine, classic, fun, chic, not afraid of his use of bright colors: red, fuchsia, orange, taupe, gold and silver. She loved textures and embraced experimentation with unique fabrics embellishments and more of his intriguing design details. Crowd favorites: foiled linen spock blazer matched with a Guggenheim knit tank and flap foiled linen trousers; shocking pink wave halter with melon foiled linen culottes and fuschia duchess. Sample some of his collections below and stay tuned for our video coverage and interview of the show and designer.
