Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Positively influence others as a role model, setting the pace for other young leaders in the diaspora and on the continent. Serve as role models to others through positive interactions
2. Actively participate in fostering others through change initiatives
3. Invest time and effort in coaching and/or mentoring.
4. Recorded measurable impact in advancing Africa through advocacy, activism, innovation, enterprise, and, institution building.
ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR
Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Develop innovative solutions to business challenges
2. Break down boundaries and/or create new relationships to improve the way work gets done
3. Approach problems as opportunities for growth and learning.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Reflect a fresh perspective in thought and action strong enough to start a revolution, change a behavior pattern.
2. Achieve a desired outcome despite adversity (e.g. limited resources, time constraints, an unexpected challenge)
3. Lead by example through sustainable personal and professional choices
4. There are no restrictions on subject matter for this category and entrants must be born before Jan 1st 1976.
HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR
Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Facilitating political change, social movement, human rights, public education and reform, or revolution.
2. Demonstrate reliability, perseverance, and focus on results
3. Must have demonstrated leadership abilities and potential to change his or her community
SCHOLAR OF THE YEAR
Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Best Practices scholar who has serve as an academic benchmark for the most current, innovative, and advanced practices in education and philippic idea,
2. Achieved outstanding academic success.
3. Evidence of scholarly activities such as: Participated as a Writing Fellow, Teaching Assistant, Undergraduate Teaching Fellow, Research Assistant, Leader, etc.
4. Help others by sharing knowledge of Institute practices and resources or job-related skills
CREATIVE OF THE YEAR
Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Individual or product that has had the biggest impact on popular culture this year.
2. The creative that took the media by storm and challenged status quo.
3. We are looking for the crème de la crème of out-of-the-box thinking.
COMMUNITY AWARDS OF THE YEAR
Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Social networks or platforms that enable communal sharing and integration within a community.
2. whose actions demonstrate belief in the concept of “community” and whose contributions exceed the boundaries of one’s profession
3. Consistently and selflessly performs acts of kindness that contribute to building and connecting the Institute and our community.
FRIEND OF AFRICA
Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Identifies the current needs of Africa, or community, or economy; implements or develops programs in any of those areas without compromising future resources.
2. Acts as a good steward by implementing practices that improve the environmental and lives of Africans, such as sustainable practices, initiating workshops or trainings, etc
3. Supports the well-being and safety of the African community, through large and small actions: promoting or developing community wellness programs, access to healthy food and exercise options or related activities.
DESIGNER OF THE YEAR
Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Set an industry standard of excellence through design that is intended to be beautiful, emotional, and appeal to the senses.
2. This award is given to a individual in the creative industry who has recorded remarkable achievement in fashion, architecture, television and other fields of design.
ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR
Award category is for an individual or individuals who:
1. Demonstrated exceptional vision, passion, and commitment to a social or developmental cause and made a measurable impact on lives.
2. Foster community by building bridges for individuals or groups to come together for intellectual or social connections.
3. Act by “doing the right thing” for another person or group.
4. seek opportunities to share valuable resources
FACE OF CHANGE
Award is given to a young person in the entertainment industry who has recorded remarkable achievement in music, acting, dance, television, fashion and other fields of entertainment.
Entries may be either an individual that has the ability to capture a specific moment in time and tell the story in a single image and bring issues to the attention of its audience and effect positive change. There are no restrictions on subject matter for this category
