Nollywood Movie '2 Brides and A Baby' Imitates Mercy Johnson's Real Life Wedding Wahala

Okay, okay, okay, people Nollywood has just released another movie titled ‘2 Brides and a Baby.’ From the looks of things though, this movie script is packed with a lot of brouhaha reminiscent of the current Mercy Johnson marriage wahala. Does art imitate real life in this instance? Mercy Johnson, in case you missed out, is supposedly marrying a married man with children. The man’s wife has exposed a lot of these facts and has even released copies of marriage certificates all published on Linda Ikeji, the popular gossip and entertainment blog. Mercy Johnson’s publicist have said despite all the wahala, Mercy Johnson is determined to marry her boo. What does this have to do with “2Brides and A Baby?” A whole lot.

In “Two Brides and a Baby” art seems to imitate life! Written and produced by Blessing Effiom-Egbe, a former model and Ex-America’s Next Top Model Contestant, Blessing Effiom-Egbe’s Two Brides and a Baby “is a story that begins on the day before the wedding of KOLE and KECHE. At the wedding rehearsal, the groom’s ex shows up bringing along a basket full of drama. She is determined to hunt the soon to be married groom for secrets he has kept away from everyone including his bride to be. As the antagonistic ex-presents a carefully mapped out plan which includes a baby, every corner is shaken as a cupboard full of secrets are open, exposing concealed reactions of everyone directly involved.”

That is the synopsis of the film we have. I told you all this movie resembled the ongoing wahala with Mercy Johnson’s wedding/marriage. The release date is set for November 25th, 2011 and even watching just the trailer will leave you wanting more. For Producer Effiom-Egbe, the goal is to address the real life issues that people face. Producer Blessing Effiom-Egbe is a fast rising star in Nollywood and has also written films like “The Rivals” 2007, “After the Vow” 2007, Working the Lane 2006, “African Queen 2006 and Before the Vow 2005.

(Will you go watch the movie when it is released? God forbid, but what would you do if such a thing happened to you just before or on your wedding? How would you handle it? Share your thoughts.)
