Africans are making a positive impact and inspiring millions wherever they may be found. For those born and/or raised in Western countries, their identities are very much intertwined with the West as it is Africa. Their accomplishments inspire and exude pride especially among Africans in Africa, African-Americans and Black Europeans. Hollywood Actor Edi Gathegi, of Kenyan heritage, and our Ladybrille Man of the Month for April 2011 is one actor whose debut on the screens evokes the above emotions of pride and inspiration.
In an age where it remains quite difficult for Black actors to secure meaningful acting roles in Hollywood, Gathegi has managed to get some solid roles and inspire many. Gathegi has starred in Twilight (Laurent),The Twilight Saga: New Moon, House (Dr. Jeffrey Cole (aka “Big Love”)) and Gone Baby Gone (Cheese). Gathegi will also be seen in the upcoming “X-Men: First Class” movie which will be in theaters on June 3rd, 2011.
Gathegi granted Ladybrille Magazine an exclusive discussing his career, Hollywood, his Kenyan heritage, his passion for acting and so much more. We cover it all! Stay tuned for press releases and more details next week.
In the meantime enjoy some clips below with our Man of the Month doing his thing!
