As part of Ladybrille Media Group, Inc.’s role as media sponsor for The Future Awards 2010, we will periodcially highlight some Nigerians whose works truly embody and “represent Naija.” Individuals who inspire us all to go that extra mile and be the best at what we do, regardless of the many obstacles life deals us.
We begin our highlights with a truly inspirational individual, Cobhams Asuquo.
Although born blind, Cobhams Asuquo has not let his lack of sight hinder him. In fact, if you didn’t know better you would swear he was not blind because of his numerous accomplishments, many of which those with sight are yet to accomplish.
Signed with Sony ATV (Publishing) and also the CEO/ Head of Productions for his company CAMP (Cobhams Asuquo Music Productions), Asuquo has helped changed the lives of the many Nigerians he has worked with for the better. For example, he was responsible for the overall production and execution of signer Asa’s debut album. An album which has helped Asa become relevant on the music global map and win her international acclaim and prestigious awards.
Asuquo is also responsible for hits such as Mode Nine’s “Cry,” Faze’s “Faze Alone,” Djinee, “Ego,”
Dare Art-Alade’s “Escalade,” Olu Maintain, “Catch Cold” and “Maintain in India,” Silver Saddie’s “Lala” and Street Monks.’ “Street Life,” among many hits he has helped produced.
Asuquo, personally, has also won numerous awards for his brilliant work. The awards include The Future Awards 2006 (Producer of the Year), 2007 and 2008 Hip-Hop World Awards (Producer of the Year), 2007 Nigeria Music Award (Producer of the decade), 2007 LEAP Africa Award for”Fortitude & Exemplary Leadership In the Music Industry” and The Future Awards 2009 (Music Producer of the Year).

I think Cobhams should not be nominated for producer awards cos, he is the father of production in africa and the best. He should not be nominated along side other producers like don jazzy who is not talented. Cobhams should be the one to present the awards. I love you daddy. Keep repping
