NEW YORK, The 49th anniversary of Nigeria’s will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2009. The Parade will commence from 56th Street and Second Avenue proceeding to 44th Street Nigerian Embassy aka Nigeria House. The Festival will take place at Dag Hammarksjold Plaza on 47th Street b/w First and Second Avenue (near United Nations Secretariat). Vendors of Nigerian cuisines, artifacts, Nollywood movies, etc. will be on site.

CHICAGO, on October 3, 2009, Nigerians in Chicago will celebrate the 49th Independence Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with a Parade and a Taste of Nigeria Picnic.
The parade begins at 10:00 am on Winona /Sheridan Road and Northbound to Foster Avenue and then east to the Foster Park.Following the parade is a Taste of Nigeria picnic at the Foster Park. The picnic will feature 20 plus Nigerian ethnic groups providing traditional entertainment throughout the park. Other forms of entertainment are also anticipated.
