We begin our week long coverage of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 with the DKNY show. For Donna Karan, it wasn’t about going with the trends or doing what is “in” fashion. It was about showcasing New York City in all of its beauty for the Spring/Summer 2013 season. “This collection was truly about New York, black, white, a shot of yellow, taxi cab, a real lifestyle of dressing from jeans to t-shirts, evening dresses, long, short, the body, on the go, things you throw on and let’s get going” said the designer to the press. “It is not about “Oh my God, this is fashion this season, it doesn’t go. They are really about the essentials of what one needs in life.” Indeed pairing beautiful long dresses with athletic shoes and belt bags shows Donna Karan is clear about being pragmatic, yet having fun while you at it.
