Hemma which has been featured on Ladybrillemag.com will show this New York Fashion Week on September 12th, 2010 at Tompkins Park at 10th Street and Avenue A. The show takes place from 3-4:30pm.
“Hemma is a stunning collection that displays sophistication with an edge – chic corsets, immaculately tailored suits, cocktail dresses, men’s accessories and separates all made with intricately hand-woven Kente fabric originally designated solely for West African royalty. All of the Kente is made with the same weaving techniques used for centuries, still done by eye on wooden looms and is 100% eco-friendly.
The sleek silhouettes and chic designs can be worn from day to night and integrated easily into a one’s wardrobe. Pieces offered in both rich and monotone colors make this a versatile collection allowing for either a bold or more subtle look, while maintaining the strikingly detailed pattern intrinsic to Kente. The one-of-a-kind garments allow each client to exude royalty.
A percentage of Hemma’s sales will be donated to La Yahoushua middle school in Ghana, the very place where my partner and I built lasting relationships with the students we taught and from where the inspiration to create the Hemma collection originated.”
