Is Nigeria the next frontier for fashion retail? While South Africa has enjoyed a thriving retail climate, Nigeria, especially when it comes to fashion, has been lagging. However, in just the past few years alone, it appears Nigeria may very well be the next frontier for fashion retail. From stores like Zara, Mango, Levi’s, Nike and many more Western brands setting shop in Nigeria, to Nigerian designers themselves raising the bar on the design and retail culture, it seems all is set to make Nigeria a force to be reckoned with, in the years ahead. The foregoing factors coupled with the recent (2010) acquisition of Vlisco, the long standing Dutch textile company, by a West African private equity firm makes all eyes focus sharply on Nigeria.
