Twenty-year-old University student, Fiona Konchella, emerged as Kenya’s top model after the hotly contested Miss World Kenya finals at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) on October 3rd, 2009.
Konchella was described by the judges as very intelligent, with the best smile and a powerful convincing speech.
The second-year Bachelor of Commerce student at the University of Nairobi beat 16 other hopefuls to grab a chance to represent Kenya at the Miss World Finals to be held in Johannesburg South Africa later this year.
After her winning od Miss world Kenya, Konchella drove away in a brand new Toyota Vitz
“I thank God for this opportunity and I still cannot believe I won because there was a very stiff competition,” she said adding, “I can now use the platform to champion the empowerment of the vulnerable in the country because that is what made me come in the competition.”
The first runners up was Tabitha Wachiuri while the second runners up was Susan Kamau of Nairobi University
“Apart from the beauty pageant competition, fashion designers had a lot of skills and creativity to demonstrate,” said Tony Chirah who choreographed the Models to the press.
The previous winners of the Miss World Kenya are Juliet Achieng who won in 2004, Cecilia Mwangi 2005, Shamila Kiptoo 2007 and Ruth Kinuthia who won it last year.

“Je remercie Dieu pour cette opportunité et je ne peux toujours pas croire que j’ai gagné parce que il y avait une rude concurrence, dit-elle, ajoutant:« Je peux maintenant utiliser la plate-forme pour le champion de l’autonomisation des populations vulnérables dans le pays parce que c’est ce qui m’a pris venir dans la compétition. “
“En dehors de la compétition concours de beauté, des créateurs de mode ont beaucoup de compétences et de créativité pour manifester”, a déclaré Tony Chirah qui a chorégraphié les modèles à la presse.
Les précédents lauréats de la Kenya de Miss Monde sont Juliette Achieng, qui a remporté en 2004, Cecilia Mwangi 2005, Shamila Kiptoo 2007 et Ruth Kinuthia qui l’a gagnée l’an dernier.

Are we appeasing to the tribal Kenyans coz the two chicks on the side are definitely more cute. This is not going anywhere; she will be rejected first round at the world stage.
