Haiti prepares for a historic ground breaking weekend at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) with the debut of three films. This is the first time three films all directed by Haitian filmmakers will screen at TIFF.
The films are ‘Ayiti Mon Amour’ directed by Guetty Felin, I Am Not Your Negro directed by Raoul Peck, and The Empty Box directed by Claudia Sainte-Luce starring Haiti’s Ambassador -at-large and Ladybrille Man alum Jimmy Jean-Louis.
“I want the world to understand there are a lot of amazing talents coming out of Haiti,” said Jimmy Jean-Louis in a statement to the press concerning his reaction to the history making weekend at TIFF. “Three films in Toronto (International) Film Festival speaks loud and shines a light on Haiti and our emerging talents, I think it’s necessary for us (t)o put a spotlight on this weekend.”
Ladybrillers, if you will be in Toronto this weekend, be sure to purchase your tickets and go support these films.
