The much anticipated award of the year is finally here, so close we can feel it, touch it, as the anticipation builds up. The 2010 SoundCity Music Video Awards is set to be a groundbreaking event. With the long list of nominees from all around the continent.
Most of the stars on that list have confirmed their attendance. Just a few days ago, man of the moment, Big Brother Africa All Stars winner Uti Nwachukwu was confirmed as the host.
As if that wasn’t enough to get us excited, a major Pan-African couture fashion show has been added to the SMVA agenda.
The SoundCity Music Video Awards aims to become the “Ultimate African Awards event” and with the addition of this fashion show, they just might achieve that goal.
On the 20th of November 2010, as notable musicians and celebrities from all around the globe converge to witness the show, there will be added element to excite and dazzle them. According to the organizers, “the award pre-show at this year’s SMVA has been designed to be an altogether different and exciting visual experience quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.”
The basic red carpet format will kickoff with a live exclusive couture production at the poolside of the Eko Hotel from 6:00PM – 7:30PM. The show will feature stunning models donning exclusive collections from the continent’s boldest, most accomplished international designers and labels. The fashion show will be directed by Jan Malan and top designers from across Africa have been commissioned to create signature looks for the evening says Olamide Adedeji, Project Director SMVA 2010.
The SMVA awards ticket can now be purchased for N10,000 and the Exclusive VIP ticket for N100,000 at the following outlets in Lagos state, Nigeria

On the entertainment scene notable artistes from across the globe will be adding their flavor to the glitz and glamour of the awards with performances from With a line-up featuring A-list entertainers from Nigeria and across the African continent, guests are in for a night of premium performances and top-notch entertainment, a promising a spectacle like never-before. All the big names will make an appearance on the night such as Lizha James, D’banj and the Mohits crew with Dr Sid and D’Prince, Psquare, Deep Level and Teargas from South Africa, Dama Do Bling, Asa, R2Bees from Ghana, our very own Banky W with his EME Boiz, 9ice, and the Storm All Starz with Sasha P, Naeto C, YQ, General Pype and plus more.
On the fashion scene SMVA 2010 is pulling the first ever be-dazzled red carpet that Nigeria is yet to experience with AMAZING display from notable African Fashion Designers including David Tlale, Dax Martin and Stoned Cherrie all from South Africa, Odio Mimonet, Lanre Da Silva, Tiffany Amber, Zizi Cardow and Mai from Nigeria. It’s the party before the big SMVA party
The awards will a live broadcast event that will be transmitted to over 50+ African countries and there will no African time syndrome says Olamide.
