“[S]oultan is considered one of the leaders of “Nayda” (New Urban Moroccan Scene). Often called the OSNI (Objet Sonore Non Identifié), which could be translated “USO” short for “Unknown Sounding Object”, for his very particular style. Afro-Arabian soul music represent the ‘universality’ Ahmed Soultan stands for. “ACHKIDE” is a blend of Berber and French and “YA SALAM” is sung in Arabic and English. In 2005, Ahmed Soultan was invited to perform at the KORA AWARDS in South Africa to represent North-Africa. During the same year, he opened one of Tiken Jah Fakoli’s concerts in Dakar, Senegal.
In 2007, Ahmed Soultan produced the soundtrack of a successful television series broadcasted in Morocco and across the Arab world. He’s received extensive media coverage across the African continent including MTV, NESSMA TV, AFRICABLE, RTS 1 and heavily featured across the Arab World through MTV ARABIA and MLIVE. Some prominent live performances include the “Sacred Musics Festival”, the “Moonfest” of Marrakech and many others in Barcelona, Amsterdam and other European countries to name a few.
