Targeted towards youths who want an alternative in gospel music, TB1 (The Blessed One) is redefining gospel music in Nigeria with his infectious and contagious energy similar to that of Kirk Franklin. Born Michael Omoria on March 9th, 1982 at Doddan Barracks to a military father and stay at home mother, TB1 was raised at the Military Cantonment in Maryland, Lagos.
At an early age, he began showing his interest in gospel music performing at church crusades, conferences and concerts. His lyrics, jovial personality and inspiring message ultimately had him dubbed “The Blessed One” by many at the venues he performed. With a vision and mission to bless people’s lives with his music, TB1 launched his music career, officially, in 1998.
Since then, he is regularly featured at Christ Embassy aka Believer’s Love World’s crusades and youth
conferences across the country. TB1 recently released two new tracks: ‘Igwe’ and ‘Na So.’ ‘Igwe’ crosses age and ethnic boundaries fusing hip-hop, r&b and praise/worship style to declare that God (Igwe) is the Father (Baba).
“I actually listened to a song by Ill Bliss Ibo Boy titled ‘To God Be The Glory’ produced by Wazbeat and I fell in love with the beat,” said TB1 in an exclusive to LadybrilleNigeria.com regarding his inspiration for ‘Igwe.’ “I ask(ed) my producer Osh if he could do something close to this beat. In the process of making the (Igwe) beat, the song came to my spirit.”
TB1 also has a gift of rapping. Consistent with his energetic style, he provides a positive alternative choice, ‘NA SO,’ for youths who love hip-hop music but desire inspiring clean content. “I, Osh and Ill Bliss went to frenzy’s studio to buy a beat. The beat was actually for me,” explains TB1 to LadybrilleNigeria.com. “FRENZY played different beats for us but the one for NA SO was chosen by Osh. We all agreed with him so in process of listening to the beat the word ‘NA SO’ popped out from Ill Bliss’s mouth and that was how the inspiration came to me.”
When TB1 is not busy pursuing his career as a gospel artist, he is a student at the National Open University of Nigeria where he is majoring in French and International relations with a minor in Still Graphics and Cinematography.
