Introducing DECO by Ritchie Edukugho and Lauren Anderson

There are so many hopeful and talented Nigerian designers who seek the limelight. LadybrilleNigeria.com is always on the look out for these designers to share with you all. Today we introduce you to DECO! DECO is a brand co-owned by a Ritchie Edukugho (Nigerian) and Lauren Anderson, based in North London.

Two important things caught our attention about DECO. First, the brand is co-owned! They say two heads are better than one and this comes into serious play here! Ritchie Edukugho, of Nigerian descent, brings a very rich cultural heritage to design and infuses it with his partner Lauren Anderson who brings a rich practical hands on experience in womens’ wear to the label. This, to us, is a bond made only in heaven. Okay maybe not heaven, but a very strong bond when creative and business minds connect.

Second, the cultural heritage that Edukugho brings to the table. It is important that Nigerian/African designers do not neglect their cultural heritage and that they can bring their own distinct voice and point of view into their designs. These two caught our attention and we thought we would share the brand with you.

DECO is subdivided into two brands: the first is the pret-a-porter (ready to wear) Deco Femme and the other Deco Denim. The two designers have also given the hint that Deco Homme and Mini Deco (intended for kids) are in the pipeline.

The label in their own words explain, “DECO is a lifestyle brand inspired by our passion for art deco and our travels around Africa, Asia and Europe. It is our aim to bridge cultural gaps through fashion and lifestyle as we endeavor to constantly create a new and exciting fusion of all the things we are and all the things we love. Within our clothes range, we aim to create flattering, immaculate and timeless pieces in a prodigious variety of sizes (UK6-22). We share a combined appreciation for high quality clothing and beautiful design. As well as a capsule range of casual wear for men and women (t-shirts, polo shirts and jeans) we offer a focused range of formal day to evening wear mainly consisting of dresses and item jackets for women.”

Check out some of their designs that we loved!
